Pre Christmas News from Bellshill Central Parish Church

As the Church of Scotland in Bellshill we warmly invite you to our final set of Christmas Services, beginning on Sunday 23rd December at 11.00am when our choir and organist, with the help of Rev Jim Grier, will lead us in a service of lessons and carols. The choir have prepared 5 special anthems, which interspersed with carols for all and readings will form the service.
Our next service is Christmas Eve at 7.00pm when our fantastic Young Church and some adult helpers will present our Annual Nativity play. There will be a retiring offering at this service for a charity. Mince pies and tea/coffee served afterwards.
Sunday 30th December at 11.00am we round off the Christmas season and 2018 with a songs of praise service, during which Kevin (our minster) will use the Try Praying material to lead us in prayer. All welcome to have a good old sing of some favourite and requested hymns and carols.

SING A SONG FOR CHRISTMAS
Thank you to Mossend and Lawmuir schools for taking part in Thursday’s concert. The kids were brilliant and sung two lovely songs each. The combined churches choir sang two items and led everyone in O Holy Night. The speaker from Women’s aid told us briefly how our donations would help those in need this Christmas. We raised (to-date) £260.00 for the charity. Thank you to all who took part, and came along on the night.
On this week:
1. Music makers and shakers classes are every week during term time. Wednesday mornings in the church hall at 10am and 11am. NB: Music makers and shakers have details of their current term available on their own Facebook page.
2. The Church choir meet today (Wednesday 19th) in the Church and Hall at 7.30pm. If you hear the strains of Away in a Manger or O Holy night don’t worry – we’re just busy getting ready for all the carol services.

COMMUNITY BUILDINGS AVAILABLE FOR USE – Our hall and facilities are available at other times during the week and are available to be hired for one-off occasions or longer term lets. Please get in touch with us if you need a space to hire. We have installed Wi-Fi which means we can offer facilities for online events taking place in the church and halls. Visual display screens are fitted in our sanctuary and are ideal for conferences and presentations. Portable visual equipment can be made available for use in the Halls and Vestry. Please ask.

SUNDAY worship takes place within Bellshill Central Parish Church on Sunday 16th December at 11.00am.This is the 3rd Sunday of Advent, and our Second candle is lit by a member of the congregation.

Hymns include, Christmas is coming, Bless the Lord (ten thousand reasons), When out of poverty and Tell out my soul. Readings are Psalm 103 and Matthew 3: 1-12. Kevin’s theme is Turn back to God – The Kingdom of Heaven will soon be here

CHRISTMAS EVENTS THIS WEEK!

SING A SONG FOR CHRISTMAS

Please make a note of this date for the whole Community. Thursday 13th December at 7.00pm in Bellshill Central Parish Church. We once again have this special Christmas Concert which features Lawmuir and Mossend Primary School Choirs. There will be a joint Churches choir from Central and West Churches. There is no tickets, just a voluntary donation. The money raised will be directly supporting Woman’s aid in Motherwell and District. There is something for all, and plenty of opportunity to sing your well loved carols and songs. Refreshments will be served in the Hall afterwards. #singasongforchristmas

CANDLE LIGHT CAROLS

Sunday 16th December at 6.30pm in the Church. Free entry, no donations, refreshments served afterwards. All are welcome to this special service designed to bring that personal message from members of the church and community. Bring a torch or battery powered candle to add to the ambience.

NEXT SUNDAY’S SERVICE

Service of Lessons and Carols

On Sunday 23rd December at 11.00am our Church Choir presents 5 lovely choir carols, interspersed with Hymn Carols and bible readings. The choir carols include Bob Chilcott’s Away in a Manger, Adam’s O Holy night and John Rutter’s Star Carol. Member of Bellshill Central retired minister, Jim Grier, will read the lessons and lead us in prayer. Please do come along for another special service. There is lots of opportunity to sing well loved carols.

Carpet bowls is now finished for Christmas. The group resumes in the New Year.
