As the Church of Scotland in Bellshill we extend a warm welcome to any of our activities. People have been coming to this building to worship God for over a hundred years. While our town has journeyed through many changes over those years, the constancy of the witness of the “Church at 346 Main Street” has remained uninterrupted. The mission of any Church is to reflect through its presence, its music, its fellowship and its beauty the greatness of God, and we seek to do that here in all that we share.
We hope that everyone who enters these doors will find an encouraging, friendly group of people. While we are far from perfect, we are regularly discovering truths that are changing us individually and enriching our lives as a church community. As we worship together, learn from the Bible, and pray for one another, we are strengthened in our commitment to Jesus Christ as well as to each other. If this is your first time here, we welcome you, and invite you to share the joy that we have found.
‘Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.’ (John 1:3-5)
In the beginning, Lord I was alone Like the earth before your Spirit moved over the waters. I was formless and empty and darkness filled the depths of my heart. Then, it was as if you declared ‘Let there be Light’ and out of the darkness I began to see hope like a shimmering ray of love breaking through the parting clouds at the conclusion of the night. In the beginning, Lord I was alone but when I saw you in the light I was no longer afraid. You held out your hand and though I had a choice I had no choice because to refuse was to embrace again the darkness. In the beginning, Lord I was alone now I am again a part of your creation loved, wanted, needed, family. In the light of your presence I hold out my heart that others might glimpse through it your reflection and be drawn from the darkness that I once embraced into the light of your sunrise the brightness of your face
Lord Jesus, Son of God, Saviour of the world Be the centre of all that we are, and the life that we lead
Lord Jesus, Light in this dark World, illuminate our hearts and minds Be the centre of all that we are, and the life that we lead
Hope
“He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 1:8)
God of Hope, we seek you. During this holy season of Advent, help us to see you in all whom we encounter.
God of Hope, we seek you. We seek you in the crude manger, a child born to save the world. May your hope be a comfort to all who long for justice.
God of Hope, we seek you. May your hope fill our hearts and grace our lips so that we might reflect your hope for all the world.
We gather for weekly worship beginning at 11.00am – The 3rd Sunday of Advent and we light our next Advent Candle

We are acutely aware that there is more news emerging about the Covid 19 Omicron varient and this is becoming more concerning.
We wanted to remind those attending church of the basic rules we have in place to ensure we keep each other safe.
It is advised by the Scottish Government that we should take Lateral Flow tests if we are going to public places. You can get these from any local pharmacist, test centre or by ordering online.
Wearing facemasks in church is mandatory, unless you are exempt under the Scottish Government guidance. You MUST remain at least 1 metre physically distanced from each other unless you are part of a household group or bubble. You must sanitise your hands on entry and exit. We will take your details for NHS test and Protect.
However, even with these restrictions everyone should be able to comfortably attend church and so it is recommend that you stay in household groups within the church. There are plenty of pews at BCPC so this will ensure that there’s socially distanced seating available for anyone who wishes to maintain a social distance from others.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping BCPC a safe space helping to keep you safe.
