A PSALM A DAY – PSALM 68

Psalm 68 The Message (MSG)

June 13, 2016 - Bible verse of the day - Psalm 68:19 - DailyVerses.net

A David Psalm

68 1-4 Up with God!
    Down with his enemies!
        Adversaries, run for the hills!
Gone like a puff of smoke,
    like a blob of wax in the fire—
        one look at God and the wicked vanish.
When the righteous see God in action
    they’ll laugh, they’ll sing,
        they’ll laugh and sing for joy.
Sing hymns to God;
    all heaven, sing out;
        clear the way for the coming of Cloud-Rider.
Enjoy God,
    cheer when you see him!

5-6 Father of orphans,
    champion of widows,
        is God in his holy house.
God makes homes for the homeless,
    leads prisoners to freedom,
        but leaves rebels to rot in hell.

7-10 God, when you took the lead with your people,
    when you marched out into the wild,
Earth shook, sky broke out in a sweat;
    God was on the march.
Even Sinai trembled at the sight of God on the move,
    at the sight of Israel’s God.
You pour out rain in buckets, O God;
    thorn and cactus become an oasis
For your people to camp in and enjoy.
    You set them up in business;
    they went from rags to riches.

11-14 The Lord gave the word;
    thousands called out the good news:
“Kings of the armies
    are on the run, on the run!”
While housewives, safe and sound back home,
    divide up the plunder,
    the plunder of Canaanite silver and gold.
On that day that Shaddai scattered the kings,
    snow fell on Black Mountain.

15-16 You huge mountains, Bashan mountains,
    mighty mountains, dragon mountains.
All you mountains not chosen,
    sulk now, and feel sorry for yourselves,
For this is the mountain God has chosen to live on;
    he’ll rule from this mountain forever.

17-18 The chariots of God, twice ten thousand,
    and thousands more besides,
The Lord in the lead, riding down Sinai—
    straight to the Holy Place!
You climbed to the High Place, captives in tow,
    your arms full of booty from rebels,
And now you sit there in state,
    God, sovereign God!

19-23 Blessed be the Lord—
    day after day he carries us along.
He’s our Savior, our God, oh yes!
    He’s God-for-us, he’s God-who-saves-us.
Lord God knows all
    death’s ins and outs.
What’s more, he made heads roll,
    split the skulls of the enemy
As he marched out of heaven,
    saying, “I tied up the Dragon in knots,
    put a muzzle on the Deep Blue Sea.”
You can wade through your enemies’ blood,
    and your dogs taste of your enemies from your boots.

24-31 See God on parade
    to the sanctuary, my God,
    my King on the march!
Singers out front, the band behind,
    maidens in the middle with castanets.
The whole choir blesses God.
    Like a fountain of praise, Israel blesses God.
Look—little Benjamin’s out
    front and leading
Princes of Judah in their royal robes,
    princes of Zebulon, princes of Naphtali.
Parade your power, O God,
    the power, O God, that made us what we are.
Your temple, High God, is Jerusalem;
    kings bring gifts to you.
Rebuke that old crocodile, Egypt,
    with her herd of wild bulls and calves,
Rapacious in her lust for silver,
    crushing peoples, spoiling for a fight.
Let Egyptian traders bring blue cloth
    and Cush come running to God, her hands outstretched.

32-34 Sing, O kings of the earth!
    Sing praises to the Lord!
There he is: Sky-Rider,
    striding the ancient skies.
Listen—he’s calling in thunder,
    rumbling, rolling thunder.
Call out “Bravo!” to God,
    the High God of Israel.
His splendor and strength
    rise huge as thunderheads.

35 A terrible beauty, O God,
    streams from your sanctuary.
It’s Israel’s strong God! He gives
    power and might to his people!
O you, his people—bless God!

A PSALM A DAY – PSALM 67

Psalm 67

For the worship leader. A song accompanied by strings.

Psalm 67 (NIV) - Psalm 67 NIV - For the director of music.… | Biblia

Psalm 67 echoes the priestly blessing (Numbers 6:24–26) and invites all nations to join in praise to the one True God.

May God pour His grace and blessings into us
    and turn His face to shine His light on us.

[pause]

So all those on earth will learn to follow Your way
    and see Your saving power come to redeem all nations.
May all people live to praise You, Our True God;
    may all come to praise You.

May all nations celebrate together, singing joy-filled songs of praise to You
    because You judge the people fairly
    and give guidance to all the nations of the earth.

[pause]

May the people praise You with their whole hearts, O God;
    may every man, woman, and child on the earth praise You.

The land has supplied a bountiful harvest,
    and the True God, our God, has poured out His blessings to us all.
God is the source of our blessings;
    may every corner of the earth respect and revere Him.

A PSALM A DAY – PSALM 66

Psalm 66 Good News Translation (GNT)

Psalm 66 | SeekGrowLove.com

66 Praise God with shouts of joy, all people!
Sing to the glory of his name;
    offer him glorious praise!
Say to God, “How wonderful are the things you do!
    Your power is so great
    that your enemies bow down in fear before you.
Everyone on earth worships you;
    they sing praises to you,
    they sing praises to your name.”

Come and see what God has done,
    his wonderful acts among people.
He changed the sea into dry land;
    our ancestors crossed the river on foot.
There we rejoiced because of what he did.
He rules forever by his might
    and keeps his eyes on the nations.
    Let no rebels rise against him.
Praise our God, all nations;
    let your praise be heard.
He has kept us alive
    and has not allowed us to fall.

10 You have put us to the test, God;
    as silver is purified by fire,
    so you have tested us.
11 You let us fall into a trap
    and placed heavy burdens on our backs.
12 You let our enemies trample us;
    we went through fire and flood,
    but now you have brought us to a place of safety.

13 I will bring burnt offerings to your house;
    I will offer you what I promised.
14 I will give you what I said I would
    when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer sheep to be burned on the altar;
I will sacrifice bulls and goats,
    and the smoke will go up to the sky.

16 Come and listen, all who honor God,
    and I will tell you what he has done for me.
17 I cried to him for help;
    I praised him with songs.
18 If I had ignored my sins,
    the Lord would not have listened to me.
19 But God has indeed heard me;
    he has listened to my prayer.

20 I praise God,
    because he did not reject my prayer
    or keep back his constant love from me.

Life and Work special offer to Bellshill Central friends and members

Hi folks. Peggy Walker, our life and work coordinator has received the following message from the Life and Work team for anyone wishing to join the distribution network at a discounted price. This is a lovely offer from the editorial team and should you wish to take up the offer please contact Peggy Walker directly.

Dear Margaret

I hope you are keeping well during this challenging time.

In the July Life and Work magazine I was encouraged to read the piece in the Parish News section titled ‘A wash of colour’ about the community challenge set by Bellshill Central Parish Church to decorate the railings around the Church. This is a lovely and creative way to bring the community together, and an encouragement to everyone who sees it.

If there were other members of your Church, who would enjoy reading this, and the other articles and features in the magazine, we would like to offer extra copies at a 20% discount. This would be a cost of £2.24 rather than £2.80 per magazine.

If you would like to order extra copies please just let me know and we would be pleased to arrange this for you. The copies can be delivered direct to individuals.

Take care and best wishes,

Melissa
