As the Church of Scotland in Bellshill we extend a warm welcome to any of our activities. People have been coming to this building to worship God for over a hundred years. While our town has journeyed through many changes over those years, the constancy of the witness of the “Church at 346 Main Street” has remained uninterrupted. The mission of any Church is to reflect through its presence, its music, its fellowship and its beauty the greatness of God, and we seek to do that here in all that we share. We hope that everyone who enters these doors will find an encouraging, friendly group of people. While we are far from perfect, we are regularly discovering truths that are changing us individually and enriching our lives as a church community. As we worship together, learn from the Bible, and pray for one another, we are strengthened in our commitment to Jesus Christ as well as to each other. If this is your first time here, we welcome you, and invite you to share the joy that we have found.

Psalm 13 The Voice (VOICE)

How long, O Eternal One? How long will You forget me? Forever?
    How long will You look the other way?

2 How long must I agonize,
    grieving Your absence in my heart every day?
How long will You let my enemies win?

3 Turn back; respond to me, O Eternal, my True God!
    Put the spark of life in my eyes, or I’m dead.
4 My enemies will boast they have beaten me;
    my foes will celebrate that I have stumbled.

5 But I trust in Your faithful love;
    my heart leaps at the thought of imminent deliverance by You.
6 I will sing to the Eternal,
    for He is always generous with me.

This week’s worship activities

This Sunday we are going to hear the 23rd Psalm being read and sung during our online Worship service. We want everyone to think about the 23rd Psalm this week and here is a modern contemporary version of the familiar words.

Some ideas for activities might be a nice colourful drawing, a crafty sheep made from cardboard, straws and cottonwool, or a word search or a word cloud. Some examples are below and you might want to use them too! Send us pictures or videos of your crafts and activities, we will share them online after our morning online service. Our weekly ENEWS has a lovely reflection, meditation and prayer this week all based on the 23rd Psalm why not read this whil you are doing this week’s activity, either read by yourself or read together. Reading your Bible together is such an important way of learning about God and the Bible as a family.

A Psalm a Day – Psalm 12

Psalm 12 Revised Standard Version (RSV)

Help, Lord; for there is no longer any that is godly;
    for the faithful have vanished from among the sons of men.
2 Every one utters lies to his neighbor;
    with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

3 May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
    the tongue that makes great boasts,
4 those who say, “With our tongue we will prevail,
    our lips are with us; who is our master?”

5 “Because the poor are despoiled, because the needy groan,
    I will now arise,” says the Lord;
    “I will place him in the safety for which he longs.”
6 The promises of the Lord are promises that are pure,
    silver refined in a furnace on the ground,
    purified seven times.

7 Do thou, O Lord, protect us,
    guard us ever from this generation.
8 On every side the wicked prowl,
    as vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

JOIN US FOR ONLINE WORSHIP SUNDAY 19TH APRIL AT 11AM

On Sunday 19th April, we will provide our next online worship which will be led by our minister, Rev’d Kevin de Beer, and will include some pre-recorded songs and hymns from our organist, the choir and congregation.

Join us from around 10.45am, we will have some news screens to display and a song to sing, before the online worship commences at 11am.

  • Kevin’s theme is Many spiritual languages, one God
  • Members of the McGleish Family will begin the service with a Call to Worship
  • The readings are Mark 14:1-9 and Luke 10:25-42
  • We will hear the 23rd Psalm, read by a member of Young Church
  • The Hymns will include Be still for the presence of the Lord, All heaven declares and O for a thousand tongues

We thought it would be comforting to have familiar views and sounds while we worship in a different way during the COVID-19 crisis. So, in our online worship we will use the sounds of our organ, choir and congregation singing. We will use familiar images from our church, including our lovely stained glass windows.
