This is the Sunday we celebrate the birthday of the church, as well as the gift of the Spirit given at Pentecost. On 4th June at 10.45am we will also celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. It will be a beautiful day to honour the past and build the future. We encourage you to wear red to worship, to symbolise the fire of God’s Spirit.
The theme for this year’s General Assembly and Heart and Soul is ‘Word of Life’; a rich, multi-layered theme that invites each one of us, whether we are at the heart of faith or on the fringes of faith, to think about what, for us, those words might be: hope, welcome, peace, mercy, kindness, love and so many more. Whilst the words will adapt and change throughout our life journey of faith, they help us understand and give texture to the focus of our faith, Jesus of Nazareth, the embodiment of ‘Word of Life’.
Congregations and groups of all ages who are connected with the Church are being encouraged to print ‘Word of Life’ letters out and put a picture on social media. Join in and use the hashtag #wordoflife.
Coming up on Sunday 25th June 2017 at 6.30pm we are holding our BIG SUMMER HYMN SING in aid of Toilet Twining (www.toilettwinning.org).
Our Organist, Alan Mathew, will lead some well chosen hymns and songs all with a Summer theme and we will have a speaker from Toilet Twinning and refreshments in the hall afterwards. Entry is free, but an offering donation will be uplifted for Toilet Twinning.
All the words will be projected onto our Big Screen, no need to worry about hymn books or song sheets.
Come along for a roll and sausage or bacon. There may even be tattie scones on order! All topped off with your favourite tomato or brown sauce and washed down with lashings of tea and coffee and all for a good cause. Bellshill Central Church Hall Saturday 13th May from 11am – 1pm.
By inviting your friends, family and colleagues to a Big Brekkie fundraising breakfast, you can show love for people living in poverty and suffering injustice around the world. Jesus’ passion for justice inspired the first Christian Aid Week collectors to come together to raise money for refugees in 1957.
