Sunday worship continues at 11am each Sunday morning at 346 Main Street – Bellshill Central Parish Church. Our church is Central to Christ, Central to Bellshill and Central to YOU! For 143 years we have shouted out the Good News of Jesus Christ and of His love for one and all. We offer a warm and generous welcome to all, on Sundays or throughout the week at any of our week day activities and groups. Our minister, Rev’d Kevin de Beer, loves being in our Faith Family and reaching outwards into the communities of Bellshill Town Centre, Mossend and Orbiston. This Sunday morning, 29th December, join us at 11.00am at the church at 346 Main Street right at the Centre of our town.  This is, the first Sunday after Christmas. We literally celebrate the gift of Jesus. The theme is The King has come and yet he has come to die and rise again.   The readings are Isaiah 63:7-19 and Matthew 2:13-23. Our hymns include Joy to the World, Child in the Manger, The head that once was crowned and You shall go out with joy. 

The service will be live streamed via our website and YouTube channel for those wishing to take part live or later on catch up. If you would like a tape, CD or DVD of the service these can be made available by speaking to Drew Aitken.

Sunday 26th January at 7pm is a Songs of Praise and Ecumenical Service in Bellshill Central Parish Church of Scotland for all the churches in Bellshill and Mossend.   The service is organised by the Lanarkshire Organists Society and members of all local churches will participate. Please come along.   Offering for St. Andrew’s Hospice will be taken. 

Our church buildings are available to hire for the whole community. Whether you’re after a large hall, a small office or the church itself, we have spaces available to suit. Our Church Hall is equally suited to dance classes, coffee mornings or birthday parties. We have a spacious and functional kitchen with ample room to prepare food etc. We have a fully accessible disabled toilet with baby changing facilities. Our halls and church are fitted with WiFi. The church has large screens and sound system suitable for meetings and presentations. Our hall has portable audio visual equipment available upon request.

Whether it’s hearing the stories learned as children, bringing their own children, singing well loved carols or simply coming to worship at the manger. This Sunday morning, 22nd December, join us at 11.00am at the church at 346 Main Street right at the Centre of our town.  We light our Fourth Advent Candle. Our church choir presents a service of Carols, The Christmas Story through narration and Christmas Music.   The theme is FOLLOW THAT STAR.  Hymns will include, As with Gladness Men of Old, Away in a Manger, Hark the herald angels sing and It came upon the midnight clear.    The service will be live streamed via our website and YouTube channel for those wishing to take part live or later on catch up. If you would like a tape, CD or DVD of the service these can be made available by speaking to Drew Aitken.

Tuesday 24th December – we invite Bellshill and the wider community along to our CHRISTMAS EVE FAMILY SERVICE.  The service is suited for all ages.   We will sing Christmas Carols old and new, and look at the Christmas Story through the eyes of the Shepherds.  The offering on Christmas Eve is given to Chris’s House and we hope you can support this through your presence with us.  Refreshments are served in the hall afterwards where we can wish each other a MERRY CHRISTMAS before going home.  For those looking for a Watchnight Service, our friends at the West Church have a service to bring in “the bells”.  

Out activities are winding down for the Christmas Holiday but there are still things going on at Central Church!

  • Thursday 19th – Mossend School Service 11am; Choir 7.15pm
  • Sunday 22nd – 11.00am Choir Service.  Young Church and Crèche

TONIGHT – MEMORIAL SERVICE – A BLUE CHRISTMAS A SERVICE OF HOPE DURING THE HOLIDAYS

We are hosting a Memorial Service in partnership with Fosters.  Please join us at 7pm tonight to remember a loved one, either lost recently or some time ago.  This is safe and quiet space.   Please pass on the news of this service into our community. Tea/Coffee served afterwards at Fosters (a few doors away)

SUNDAY 22ND DECEMBER

Our choir (and some friends from the West) are busy practicing for our Choir Christmas Service at 11am, presenting a musical called FOLLOW THAT STAR with fun songs and narration.

THANK YOU – SING A SONG FOR CHRISTMAS was an amazing night for all ages, Mossend and Lawmuir schools were both on excellent form.  We raised an amazing £450 for Chris’s House.  A recording is available online via the Church’s YouTube channel.

CHOIR PRACTISE DATES: next meet on Thursday  19th December at 7.15pm.

THE CHURCH CHOIR VISITED HIGHGATE CARE HOME ON THURSDAY 12TH DECEMBER TO SING CHRISTMAS CAROLS AND CHRISTMAS MUSIC. YOU CAN SEE THE SINGERS WERE ENJOYING THEMSELVES AND EVEN WORE THE FAMOUS BELLSHILL CENTRAL CHRISTMAS JUMPERS. THE RESIDENTS AND STAFF WERE REALLY GRATEFUL WE COULD COME TO VISIT.

CHRISTMAS FUNDRAISING – Christmas CDs with organ music and carols are available priced at £3.50.   See Alan or choir members.

Bowls, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Friday Night Club have all finished for the Christmas Break. The Guild and Choir finish this coming week.  We wish everyone involved a well-earned rest and we look forward to their new sessions in 2020.
