Weekly news round-up

Morning worship on Sunday 20 November takes place at 10.45am at Bellshill Central Church, 346 Main Street. Our minister, Rev Kevin de Beer, will lead worship when celebrate in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Kevin’s theme is appropriately “NAMED”. Our readings are taken from Malachi 3:1-6, Romans 6:1-11 and Matthew 3:13-17. Our hymns include At the Name of Jesus, All to Jesus I surrender, I will sing the wondrous story and Mine eye have seen the Glory! The church choir anthem is a beautiful arrangement of “Dear Lord and Father of Mankind” Activities for children and young adults are available in our Young Church groups that meets during the service. All are warmly welcome to our service of worship. We’re a warm and welcoming church family at the heart of Bellshill. We would love to see you join us.    
Last Sunday, 13th November, our minister lead two moving services of remembrance, one at the cenotaph and the other in the sanctuary. A goodly number attended both services, and the uniformed organizations from our Church and our Town displayed reverence and dignity as they processed and carried the various company and Queen’s colours. Thanks to Mr Tom Taylor for preparing the youngsters to be flag bearers and organizing the cenotaph service.
Anne Guy’s clothes show takes place this Friday, 18th November, in the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre. Some tickets are still available. Please contact the church to reserve the final few. 
Our church guild continues meeting weekly. This coming week on Monday 21st November we have an outing to Mackinnon Mills leaving at 1.30pm. Please make sure you have let Liz Morton know if you are coming along. All ladies and gents are welcome to come along to a warm and welcoming group, full of fellowship. Full event details for the year are available online. Guild week runs from 13-20th November with special events taking place. This annual event in the Guild calendar aims to inspire local Guilds to promote the work of the organisation throughout their communities. The guild will take our church service on Sunday 27th November which starts the advent season.
Our indoor bowling club has also resumed on Wednesday nights in the Church Hall. Bowlers of all ages and abilities are warmly welcome to come along. You are guaranteed a cheery welcome and some friendly competition. Just who will be the best bowler this season? You will have to come along to find out!
Both our Brownie (7-10yrs) and Guide (10-14yrs) packs have resumed on Thursday nights in the Church Halls. Brownies meeting from 6.15pm-7.30pm and the Guides from 7.45-9.15pm. Any girls interested should come along to the church hall to join in the fun and be part of the Guide Family. Our Rainbows (5-7yrs) have also resumed on Tuesdays in the Church halls at Bellshill Central. The Rainbows meet from 6pm-7pm. Any girls interested are invited to come along to the church hall to join with other girls from the local area. Information online at http://www.rainbows.girlguiding.org.uk
Church choir next meets on THURSDAY 17TH NOVEMBER (please note the different day) at 7.30pm in the Church. All are welcome to come along. We are currently working towards our involvement in Christmas Services and the Sing a Song for Christmas Concert.
The Friday night club has resumed at 7pm on alternate Friday evenings. Next meeting is on Friday 1st December. Table tennis, crafts, open to all ages all welcome, to this family friendly activity night.
SING A SONG FOR CHRISTMAS – Bellshill Central’s Annual Christmas Concert takes place on Thursday 8th December in the Church at 7pm. We are supporting the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre this year with all donations received going there. Mossend Primary School Choir, SoundSational Community Choir, our Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, Church Choir and the super Fiona MacDonald are all headlining acts to wow you with Christmas Music and Songs. Of course there are Carols for all – it wouldn’t be Christmas with no Carols would it? Alan Mathew, organist at the church says “Please do come along and support us as we once again come together in song at Christmas. It is important that we do so as a church and community, where we support the Neighbourhood Centre which is an integral part of Bellshill. We are looking forward to seeing and hearing all the different acts that are taking part, and we will have our usual Best Bellshill Cuppa” afterwards”
Advance notice of December dates:
Saturday 3rd December – 12noon til 1pm – Shopper’s Carol Service – the whole town is invited to sing favourite carols and hear the Christmas story re-told. 
Saturday 3rd December – 1pm – 3pm – Christmas Afternoon Teas (with a visit from Santa) – tickets available soon
Thursday 8th December – 7pm – Sing a Song for Christmas – raising funds for Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre. Guest acts include SoundSational, Mossend Primary School Choir, Church Brownies, Guides and Rainbows, the Fabulous Fiona MacDonald (female vocalist) and our own Church Choir. Come along for festive fun and cheer.
Sunday 18th December – 7pm – Carols by Candlelight. The Church will be candle lit and you are invited. Bring your torch along or simply use your camera phone as a torch to add to the atmosphere.
Saturday 24th December – 7.30pm – Christmas Eve – All Age Nativity Service.
Sunday 25th December – 10:30am – Christmas Day Family Service. Bring a toy along.
