Weekly Update from Central Church, 9th May 2018

Join us for Worship!!

Sunday 13th May 2018 – Sunday Service takes place at 11.00am, with Rev’d Kevin de Beer leading worship, with something suitable for All-ages.   The bible readings are taken from 1 John 5:9-13 and John 17:6-19.   Kevin’s theme for Sunday is “JOY AND HOPE”.  Hymns include Immortal Invisible, Make me a channel, There is a redeemer, Rock of Ages and Lord you have come to the sea-shore.   Sunday School and Crèche facilities are available each week.

This week before our Church Service we are holding a continental breakfast raising funds for Christian Aid, as today marks the start of Christian Aid Week.  Please come along early for Church and enjoy breakfast, have a hot cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy fellowship before our church service.

Groups meeting this week are

  1. Wednesday 9th – Music Makers and Shakers meets with classes at 10am and 11am AND at 7.30pm the Church choir meet in the hall – please note change of day.
  2. Thursday 10th – Brownies meet at 6.15pm and Guides meet at 7.45pm
  3. Saturday12th – Crazy Toes School of Dance meets from 10am – 1pm
  4. Sunday 13th – Creche meets in the hall and Young Church meets in the Church.
  5. Sunday 13th – Choir meets at 10.30am in the Hall for a quick practise.
  6. Tuesday 15th – Rainbows meet at 6pm

LINE DANCING NIGHT – Jean Hargrave has once again organised a Line Dancing Night in aid of Church Funds on Friday 18th May in the Masonic Hall in Bowling Green Street.  Please get your tickets from Jean ASAP as this always proves a very enjoyable night.   Look out your dancing shoes!

CHURCH MAGAZINE – The next edition of our Church Magazine is due out before our June Communion Service.  The editors, Lawson, Jean and Fiona Kyle, are looking for any letters, reflections, articles for inclusion asap, but at least handed to them, or emailed, by Sunday 13th May.

May Worship themes – Worship at Bellshill Central during the month of May includes topics – Chosen and choosing to give ourselves, and Joy and Hope.  We also focus on Christian Aid week, Pentecost with informal communion and a celebration of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

PENTECOST SUNDAY – We celebrate Pentecost (the church’s birthday) on Sunday 20th May with our Annual WEAR RED TO CHURCH event with the sacrament of Holy Communion, served in an informal and family service.  Be Bright, Be Bold and be Passionate as we celebrate in colour and in song the coming of the Holy Spirit!

YOUNG CHURCH CHURCH FAMILY OUTING – Saturday 23rd June 2018 – The Young Church are again organising an outing to Kelburn Park and you are invited to come along!  If you would like to be part of the fun and fellowship please let Drew Aitken or any Young Church leader know, and return the tear-off slip asap as spaces will run out quickly!  The bus will leave from the Church, and return to the Church around 6pm on the 23rd June.


PRAYER & COMMUNITY – Please visit our Prayer page on our website (look for the prayer button at the top) – there is an online prayer request form which will send your prayer direct to our minister, Rev Kevin. Prayer Requests – Our church has provided a Prayer Book which is situated in the main vestibule for anyone to pop in a note of concern or anxiety they would like prayer for.   We are a Parish Church and are here for you in times of joy and sadness. Kevin is available to the local community to offer spiritual support or to simply offer prayer. COMMUNITY BUILDINGS AVAILABLE FOR USE – Our hall and facilities are available at other times during the week and are available to be hired for one-off occasions or longer term lets. Please get in touch with us if you need a space to hire. We have installed Wi-Fi which means we can offer facilities for online events taking place in the church and halls.  Visual display screens are fitted in our sanctuary and are ideal for confernces and presentations.  Portable visual equipment can be made available for use in the Halls and Vestry.  Please ask.

CHECK OUT OUR ONLINE ACTIVITIES –  Should you be unable to attend worship but would like to share in the recorded services, you can do so LIVE each Sunday from 11:00am via the Church’s website www.bellshillcentral.wordpress.com – also our Facebook and our YouTube channel are updated regularly. You can find out more information on Sunday Services, Weekly activities and catch up with our services from our uploaded videos. We are LIVE on the Internet most Sunday mornings, and occasionally with other events we hold.
