As we gather this Remembrance Weekend, we pause to honour those who gave their lives in service and to remember all who have been affected by war, conflict and loss. Across generations, ordinary men and women have shown extraordinary courage, often making great sacrifices in the hope of securing peace and freedom for others.
In a world that still knows division, suffering and uncertainty, Remembrance invites us not only to look back with gratitude but also to look forward with purpose. We remember the cost of conflict and renew our commitment to being people who seek peace, justice and reconciliation in our communities and in our world.
At Bellshill Central Parish Church, we give thanks for the legacy of those who served and for the opportunities we enjoy today because of their sacrifice. As we gather in worship and remembrance, may we honour their memory not only with silence and reflection, but through lives marked by compassion, kindness and a commitment to peace.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
