As the Church of Scotland in Bellshill we extend a warm welcome to any of our activities. People have been coming to this building to worship God for over a hundred years. While our town has journeyed through many changes over those years, the constancy of the witness of the โChurch at 346 Main Streetโ has remained uninterrupted. The mission of any Church is to reflect through its presence, its music, its fellowship and its beauty the greatness of God, and we seek to do that here in all that we share.
We hope that everyone who enters these doors will find an encouraging, friendly group of people. While we are far from perfect, we are regularly discovering truths that are changing us individually and enriching our lives as a church community. As we worship together, learn from the Bible, and pray for one another, we are strengthened in our commitment to Jesus Christ as well as to each other. If this is your first time here, we welcome you, and invite you to share the joy that we have found.
1 Praise the Lord,(A) my soul;(B) all my inmost being, praise his holy name.(C) 2 Praise the Lord,(D) my soul, and forget not(E) all his benefitsโ 3 who forgives all your sins(F) and heals(G) all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life(H) from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,(I) 5 who satisfies(J) your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed(K) like the eagleโs.(L)
6 The Lord works righteousness(M) and justice for all the oppressed.(N)
7 He made known(O) his ways(P) to Moses, his deeds(Q) to the people of Israel: 8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,(R) slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;(S) 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve(T) or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love(U) for those who fear him;(V) 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions(W) from us.
13 As a father has compassion(X) on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; 14 for he knows how we are formed,(Y) he remembers that we are dust.(Z) 15 The life of mortals is like grass,(AA) they flourish like a flower(AB) of the field; 16 the wind blows(AC) over it and it is gone, and its place(AD) remembers it no more. 17 But from everlasting to everlasting the Lordโs love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their childrenโs children(AE)โ 18 with those who keep his covenant(AF) and remember(AG) to obey his precepts.(AH)
19 The Lord has established his throne(AI) in heaven, and his kingdom rules(AJ) over all.
20 Praise the Lord,(AK) you his angels,(AL) you mighty ones(AM) who do his bidding,(AN) who obey his word. 21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,(AO) you his servants(AP) who do his will. 22 Praise the Lord, all his works(AQ) everywhere in his dominion.
Hi there, here is our latest Young Church this week with Rev Kevin. He tells us the story of another John – John Newton. This John wrote a very famous song “Amazing Grace” – we will sing this at Online Worship on Sunday – so come back to hear it. There is a little bible verse that was important to John Newton – Deuteronomy 15:15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. And the Lord your God saved you. That is why I am commanding this to you today. We finish today with a song all about the bible!
This past week some of our young folks and those of our wider church family started school for the first time or went back after an extended break.
Also Nicky one of our church family started a new job, so we wish Nicky well and good luck. ๐๐๐
Finally, our fantastic clerk to our Congregational Board sent in this picture when she relived her school days when celebrating Anne’s birthday. Good one Cathie! ๐
Finally here’s a prayer to read and pray for all folks
We ask for Godโs blessing on our schools in our community. Lord; grant us the will to work together, the wisdom to listen to each otherโs views and the insight to plan together, in recognition of our role in supporting one another. Help us to build a family of schools for Bellshill that supports the development of each individual child, offers a stimulating working environment for staff and provides a focus for the local community. Let our schools become an example of Christian witness in our world and Christian roots in our communities. Amen.
