Summer Church news (4) from Bellshill Central Parish Church

The churches on Bellshill’s Main Street conclude their joint summer services on Sunday 28th July when worship will be at the West Church, with the congregations of Central Parish and St Andrews UF being guests. The service will be at the usual time of 11am and refreshments served afterwards. After the service those wishing to stay for informal communion should stay in the church.

Sunday 4th August sees a return to weekly worship at 346 Main Street where Christian witness has had 143 years of preaching the Gospel and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our doors are open and welcoming. Rev Kevin de Beer leads us in worship at 11am and the theme is – Daniel interprets the king’s dream. Readings are from Daniel 2:1-3 and 17-23. Hymns include King of Kings Majesty, Immortal invisible God only wise, Come let us dream (to the tune O Waly Waly). Tea and coffee served after the service with BBC songs of praise shown on the Big Screen. As usual this service is live streamed via our church’s YouTube channel.


We are a congregation of folks of all ages. We live our faith by our actions. You’ll see that we are a warm and welcoming church, and you’ll find information about our activities and some of the services we offer via our website. However, as the Church community for Central Bellshill we want to know what do you want from us? What other services or activities can we help host, organise or promote? Do you want more activities during the day, in the evening, or at the weekend? Should it be geared towards young folk, older folk or families? You tell us how we can be Central to YOU!

BBC’s Songs of Praise – The final programme that will feature a hymn from the Glasgow Cathedral recording will be broadcast on 04/08/19. Please do tune in and spot some familiar faces from the Bellshill Central Church Choir, who went along to the recording.

Our Summer Choir continues on Sundays at 10am until Sunday 25th August. Anyone wanting to come try out the choir will be made more than welcome!

Sunday 11th August our morning service includes the sacrament of Holy Baptism. All most welcome to share with our regular church community and the extended family and friends of the baptismal party.

Our Sponsored Walk and Run takes place on Sunday 18th August after the service. Sponsor sheets are available from Alan Mathew or online at The route taking us through the Parish will be this year’s walk/run, but for those looking for a shorter route, don’t worry as one will be available.

Our new summer walking group – Heart and Sole walking group – continues each week. We have now met for 4 weeks and numbers attending are very encouraging. We have an enjoyable jaunt around Bellshill/Mossend and finish with tea and coffee afterwards. We next meet on 30th July at 7.00pm. Remember, wear suitable shoes and clothing – it might rain! Bring a bottle of water, and make sure you’ve brought some contact details (for that just in case moment!)

Our parish prayer system is in full operation during the summer period. Our dedicated prayer page on our church website will gather the information needed for to add someone, or a situation, to our parish prayers.

Throughout the summer our church and halls are suitable, and available most days, for conferences, meetings, dance classes or parties.
