Holy week and Easter in Bellshill

Walking with Jesus: Holy Week and Easter at Bellshill Central

As Holy Week approaches, Bellshill Central Parish Church invites you to journey through the story of Jesus — from the joy of Palm Sunday to the heartbreak of Good Friday, and finally to the radiant hope of Easter morning.

Palm Sunday (29th March).

We begin with celebration: waving palms and singing praise as we remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Worship at 11am will be joyful and all-age friendly. Following the service you’re invited to stay behind for Hot Cross Buns and tea/coffee.

Monday Zoom Holy Week Prayers (30th March).

We begin the week quietly and prayerfully with a short time of reflection on Zoom at 7.30pm. This gentle gathering offers space to pause, breathe, and listen for God’s voice as we step into the journey of Holy Week together. All are welcome to join from home — cameras on or off, simply as you are

Wednesday Film Night (1st April).

On Wednesday evening we pause the rush of the week and gather for a relaxed film night at 7pm. With a thought‑provoking Easter‑themed film, refreshments, and space for gentle conversation afterwards, it’s a warm mid‑week moment to reflect, unwind, and share fellowship together.

Maundy Thursday (2nd April).

A quiet, reflective service at 7pm will mark the Last Supper. We’ll share bread and wine, and remember Jesus’ command to love and serve one another.

Good Friday (3rd April).

From 10am, we gather in solemn reflection. Through readings, music, and silence, we’ll walk with Jesus to the cross. Come for the full morning or just when you can.

Easter Sunday (5th April).

The garden will greet the dawn with worship at 9am, celebrating resurrection in the open air. Breakfast follows — hot drinks, and fellowship. At 11am, our family worship with Communion will proclaim the risen Christ with joy, colour, and song.

All are welcome to walk this sacred week with us. Whether you come with questions, with faith, or simply with curiosity — there is space for you here.

Wisdom on Wednesday – Lent Week 3

A moment to pause, breathe, and be re‑centred in God’s grace.

🌿 Scripture
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
This verse sits at the heart of Lent: honest, hopeful, and deeply human. It doesn’t ask for perfection, only renewal. It trusts that God can do in us what we cannot do alone.

✨ Reflection
Lent Week 3 often feels like the “middle stretch”—the initial resolve has softened, the journey feels longer than expected, and the transformation we hoped for seems slow. This is precisely where Psalm 51 speaks most clearly.
David’s prayer is not a cry of despair but a declaration of trust. He believes God can reshape what is weary, restore what is broken, and revive what feels dull or discouraged. Renewal is not a reward for getting everything right; it is a gift God delights to give.
This week invites us to notice where our hearts feel cluttered, tired, or distracted. Not to shame ourselves, but to gently hand those places back to God. Lent is not about proving our devotion—it is about making space for God’s renewing work.
Ask yourself:

  • Where do I need a clean heart?
  • What spirit within me needs renewing—courage, patience, compassion, hope?
  • What small shift could open me more fully to God’s presence today?
God meets us in the middle stretch. Renewal begins right where we are.

🙏 Prayer
Gracious God,
In this Lenten season, draw me back to the centre of your love.
Where my heart feels heavy, cleanse it.
Where my spirit feels weary, renew it.
Where my steps falter, steady me.
Shape me again in your mercy,
that I may walk with humility, hope, and trust.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and make me new.
Amen.

🎵 Song Suggestion
“Refiner’s Fire” – Brian Doerksen
A gentle, prayerful song that echoes the longing for purity, renewal, and a heart set apart for God—perfect for the reflective tone of Lent Week 3
