Ellen Williamson award

A presentation to Ellen Williamson, who was resigning from the Community Council after many years’ service took place at the commencement of the Guild Guest night on Monday evening. The presentation was made by Cllr. Harry Curran, with Tom Taylor, Duncan McLeod and Rev. Kevin De Beer also in attendance.

The Guest Night attended by over 70 ladies from various Guilds, was well entertained by former Radio DJ, Dave Marshall. Trips down memory lane were enthusiastically received from scrubbing boards to Triumph Herald cars, from Camp Coffee to Syrup of Figs, from Alma Cogan to Matt Munro, and entertainers Duncan MacRae to Chic Murray and so much more. The 90 minute presentation flew by with lots of fun and laughter and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
Since Dave has been fulfilling these engagements, almost £19,000 has been donated to Cystic Fibrosis and Alzheimer’s charities.
The evening concluded with friendship and fellowship over tea and coffee in the hall. Many thanks to all who came along.
