Join us for Worship

Sunday 29th April 2018 – Sunday Service takes place at 11.00am, with Rev’d Kevin de Beer leading worship.   The bible readings are taken from 1 John 4:7-21 and John 15:1-8.   Kevin’s sermon is entitled ‘The True Vine’.  Hymns include Be thou my vision, Will you come and follow me, Jesus put this song into our heart, and You are the vine.    Our choir sings the two reflective items – A new commandment and I am the bread, wine and vine.   Sunday School and Crèche facilities are available each week.

Groups meeting this week are

  • Wednesday – Music Makers and Shakers meets with classes at 10am and 11am.
  • Carpet Bowls continues on Wednesday nights at 7.00pm
  • Thursday – Brownies meet at 6.15pm and Guides meet at 7.45pm
  • Friday – Church Choir meet at 7.30pm in the Church Hall.
  • Saturday – Crazy Toes School of Dance meets from 10am – 1pm
  • Sunday – Creche and Young Church meets in the Church.
  • Sunday – Choir meets at 10.30am in the Hall for a quick practise.
  • Tuesday – Rainbows meet at 6pm

Some of our organisations and those that meet in our hall are now finished for the session.  We wish The Guild and the Probus Club, their leaders and every group member a restful time during their holidays and look forward to welcoming them back in their new Sessions.

MAY CLOTHES SHOW – Anne Guy’s legendary Clothes Show returns to the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre on Monday 7th May at 7.30pm.   Tickets are now on sale from the Church on Sundays or from Anne during the week.  Please do mark the date in your diary as these events are a real treat.   Along with the chance to buy some new clothes, you can take part in the raffles and win prizes.

Worship at Bellshill Central during the month of May includes topics – Chosen and choosing to give ourselves, and Joy and Hope.  We also focus on Christian Aid week, Pentecost with informal communion and a celebration of the Holy Trinity (Ftaher, Son and Holy Spirit).   The first Sunday of May (Sunday 6th May) is also our monthly tea and coffee in the hall after the service, so please do stay behind that particular Sunday.

PENTECOST SUNDAY – We celebrate Pentecost (the church’s birthday) on Sunday 20th May with our Annual WEAR RED TO CHURCH event with the sacrament of Holy Communion, served in an informal and family service.  Be Bright, Be Bold and be Passionate as we celebrate in colour and in song the coming of the Holy Spirit!

PRAYER & COMMUNITY – Please visit our new Prayer page on our website (look for the prayer button at the top) – there is an online prayer request form which will send your prayer direct to our minister, Rev Kevin. Prayer Requests – Our church has provided a Prayer Book which is situated in the main vestibule for anyone to pop in a note of concern or anxiety they would like prayer for.   We are a Parish Church and are here for you in times of joy and sadness. Kevin is available to the local community to offer spiritual support or to simply offer prayer. ONLINE MINISTRY – April is the month where we continue to consider the ministry of the Holy Spirit.  Remember you can always subscribe to our minister’s YouTube channel if you are wanting to be reminded of new videos that are being uploaded.  This is the final month of #wordonwednesday as Kevin prepares for a new ministry from the 23’rd May 2018 #21words.  The current video on the Holy Spirit is the fourth video in a sequence of ten videos celebrating the gift of knowing our faith, living our faith, and sharing our faith.  #FirstSteps – Kevin launched his “First Steps” book last year. Please look this up on Amazon, or contact Kevin for a copy as we hope to spread the Gospel message that little bit further in Bellshill and Mossend.

COMMUNITY HALLS AVAILABLE FOR USE – Our hall and facilities are available at other times during the week and are available to be hired for one-off occasions or longer term lets. Please get in touch with us if you need a space to hire. We have now installed Wi-Fi which means we can offer facilities for online events taking place in the church and halls.

Sunday 22nd April – Sunday Service takes place at 11.00am, with Rev’d Kevin de Beer leading worship.   The bible readings are taken from Psalm 23, Acts 4:5-12 and the gospel of John 10:11-18.   Kevin’s sermon is entitled ‘The Good Shepherd’.  Hymns include ‘The Lord’s my shepherd’, ‘Loving Shepherd of thy Sheep’ and ‘There is a Green hill far away’.    Our choir sings the old Scottish Psalm tune Orlington and also the favourite anthem Lead me Lord by Wesley.   Sunday School and Crèche facilities are available each week.

Join us for Worship

PRAISE IN THE PARK – took place last Saturday in Strathclyde Park and was a huge success.  Over 150 people attended throughout the day with various churches and groups from across Hamilton Presbytery taking part.  Our own church led the final session of singing and worship.  Thanks to our Organist, Alan Mathew, and the singers from Bellshill Central, West and Motherwell St Mary’s who made up the Praise Singers.

It needs to hear from you, your views and your thoughts! Please take a few moments before 31st March to visit www.churchofscotland.org.uk/youthworksurvey where you can find a series of surveys that will help give a clear picture about what is required. This is your chance to have your voice heard, don’t let it slip away!

Sunday 15th April – Sunday Service takes place at 11.00am, with Rev’d Kevin de Beer leading worship.   The bible readings are taken from Acts 3:12-20 and Luke 24:36-49.   Kevin’s sermon is entitled ‘Seeking to understand what is going on’.  Hymns include ‘Be still for the presence’, ‘Lord of all hopefulness’ and ‘To God be the glory’.     Sunday School and Crèche facilities are available each week.

Join us for Worship

PRAISE IN THE PARK – takes place this Saturday, 14th April, and is organised by our Minster, Rev de Beer, on behalf of Hamilton Presbytery.   It takes place in Strathclyde Park from 1pm – 5pm, besides the Watersports building.   There will be stalls, information, Messy Church information, Church news and music.   If you would like to be part of a group of singers, contact Bellshill Central’s organist Alan Mathew.  A love of singing and music is all that is required.  We will be eading some praise items and contributing 2 other songs.  The singers’ rehearsal is Wednesday 11th at 7.30pm in the Church.

  • Praise in the Park Singers practise is on Wednesday 11th April at 7.30pm for around one hour in the Church.  Anyone who wants to take part in this singing group, singing some hymns and praise items on Saturday should come along on Wednesday evening.
  • Music Makers and Shakers meets on Wednesday 11th April with classes at 10am and 11am.
  • **Please note** Rainbows, Brownies and Guides sections that meet in Bellshill Central Church are off for the Easter Holidays.  They start back week commencing 16th on their usual days and times.
  • Bowls resume this week on Wednesday 11th April at 7.00pm.
