This coming Sunday’s service, Sunday 11th February 2018, is at 11.00am when our Minister, Rev’d Kevin de Beer, leads us in morning worship for All Ages.
The month of February continues in our exploration of Mark’s Gospel as part of the lectionary Year B. The theme for this week is The Transfiguration of Jesus, marking the end of the season of Epiphany.

The Transfiguration of Jesus is an event reported in the New Testament when Jesus is transfigured and becomes radiant in glory upon a mountain. The Synoptic Gospels (Matthew 17:1–8, Mark 9:2–8, Luke 9:28–36) describe it, and the Second Epistle of Peter also refers to it (2 Peter 1:16–18). It has also been hypothesized that the first chapter of the Gospel of John alludes to it (John 1:14).

In these accounts, Jesus and three of his apostles, Peter, James, John, go to a mountain (the Mount of Transfiguration) to pray. On the mountain, Jesus begins to shine with bright rays of light. Then the prophets Moses and Elijah appear next to him and he speaks with them. Jesus is then called “Son” by a voice in the sky, assumed to be God the Father, as in the Baptism of Jesus. The Transfiguration is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels. This miracle is unique among others that appear in the Canonical gospels, in that the miracle happens to Jesus himself.

Our hymns this week include Christ whose glory fills the skies, How lovely on the mountains – Our God Reigns, My faith looks up to thee and All heaven declares. Our bible readings are 2 Kings 2:1-12 and Mark 9:2-9. Crèche facilities are available every Sunday for the youngest of Children. We would be delighted to welcome you. Let us build a house where all can dwell – All are welcome in this place!

Funeral for Alexander Wallace

The funeral service for the late ALEXANDER WALLACE takes place within Bellshill Central Parish Church on Wednesday 31st January 2018 at 10.00am.

Please remember the family and friends of the late Mr Wallace in your daily prayer and devotions.

Your attendance at the service would be greatly appreciated by all.   This is expected to be an extremely busy service.  Please plan ahead for journey and parking.

A bible verse in times of bereavement:

John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.
